Agent TypePersonActivities & OccupationsTrade unionistsHistoryMr Dominick commenced work as an apprentice carpenter and joiner in the 1940s and completed his training after World War Two at Collingwood Technical School under the Commonwealth Reconstruction Scheme for returned soldiers. He was an active member of the Building Workers' Industrial Union from 1946 and Secretary of the Preston Branch. He was also Branch representative on the BWIU State Management Committee from that time to his resignation in June 1992. The BWIU was the successor of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners which was deregistered in the 1940s. The current ASC&J is a rival union created during the deregistration period. In 1984 the second ASC&J was one of four right unions to apply for affiliation to the Victorian ALP. Its application was opposed by the BWIU.
