He began his career as a journalist with the Southern Press Agency, and gained experience reporting Federal Parliament for interstate and provincial newspapers. He served abroad during the First World War and became editor of the Australasian in 1937, followed by the Argus in 1942. After his retirement in 1947, he continued in public relations work and produced magazines for the Victorian Government and other public bodies. He was awarded an OBE. From 1947-1955 he was a member of the Melbourne Invitation Committee for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games and chaired the Press and Publicity Committee. He was honorary editor of The Record of the XVI Olympiad. Mr Doyle died in September 1965.
