In 1930 she was Supervisor of the Associated Teachers' Training Institution (later Mercer House) until 1938 when she was appointed Headmistress of the Melbourne Church of England Girls' Grammar School. After her retirement in 1955, Miss Ross returned to lecture at Mercer House for twelve years. Her views on education were progressive, based, in particular, on the theories of Montessori.
