From 1908 to 1920 he practised as a mining engineer and was president of several mining associations. In 1921 Dyason established his prosperous stockbroking firm of Edward Dyason and Co. A director of numerous companies and contributor of economic journals, Dyason's vision encompassed a wider sphere. He was chairman of the Bureau of Social and International Affairs from 1932 and active in encouraging the Aust. Institute of International Affairs to bring out distinguished scholars to foster international good-will. The Dyason Foundation was created for that purpose. E.C. Dyason died at sea in 1949.
