Charles and Annie's father Frederick worked at Jackson and Jones Wireworkers and Tinners, which in 1905 became A. Jones and Co. Wire- works. It was originally located in LaTrobe Street, then in 1900 moved to 683-85 Elizabeth Street in the city, and then moved to 62 George Street in Fitzroy. The business was dissolved in 1945.
