He achieved most fame as a draft resister in 1972, for which he was given an eighteen month goal sentence. After serving eight months of the sentence, he was re- leased upon the election of the Whitlam government in December 1972. He was State Senior Vice President of the Young Labor Association in 1973, and between March 1972 and Ausgust 1987 he was an ALP member of the Fitzroy Council.
