From 1941 he served with the A.I.F. in the 2-4th Commando Squadron until 1946 when he returned to Melbourne to resume his law career. In 1950 Emery was admitted to practice as Barrister, signed the Roll of Counsel in 1957 and became Q.C. in 1974. Two years later Emery became Judge of the Family Court of Australia. Born in 1923 in Colac, Emery died in Melbourne 20 April 2005.
