Agent TypeOrganisationHistoryBrass Company of Australia Pty Ltd was founded by George Stewardson in 1929 to make brass and extrude it into rods. George Stewardson was born in Yorkshire in 1874 later working as a brass moulder and ardent Unionist before coming to Australia. After the establishment of Brass Company the mid 1930s a company called Extruded Metals Pty Ltd was set up to provide financial support to the company. Extruded Metals had a contractural arrangement with Brass Company. In December 1959 Brass Company bought Extruded Metals and made it a subsiduary. The subsiduary ceased to have any function. At the same time the comapnies swapped names. The operating parent company became Extruded Metal Pty Ltd and the subsiduary became Brass Company.
