For a number of years she was Senior Lecturer in English at the Institute of Early Childhood Development in Melbourne. Much of Dr Factor's work reflects interest in the lives of children, especially their folklore and language. In 1978 she co-edited Cinderella Dressed in Yella with Ian Turner and Wendy Lowenstein, and in 1983, Far Out, Brussel Sprout!, a compilation of children's play rhymes. Dr Factor devotes much time to community activities. She is past president of both the Australian and Victorian Council for Civil Liberties, Liberty Victoria She served on the Executive Committee of Liberty Victoria from 1981 to 1996 and presented a radio program on their behalf on radio 3CR from 1981-1988. She is a founding member of the Free Speech Committee in Victoria and from 1991 to 1995 she represented civil liberty interests on the national statutory Privacy Advisory Committee. From 1995 to 1999 she was the President of Friends of the ABC (Vic) and the national spokesperson for the organisation. In 2001 Dr Factor was included in the Centenary of Federation Victorian Honour Roll of Women as one of 250 'Women Shaping the Nation'.Search records of this agent
