Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsTrade UnionsHistoryThe first meeting of the South Gippsland Fishermen's Union was held at the Ship Inn, Port Albert, Victoria on 30th May 1889. Its amis were to act as a branch of the Victorian Fishermen's Union, and in cooperation with it, to get and protect the rights of fishermen and to establish markets if practicable. The South Gippsland Union was short lived, and folded in late 1890. In 1894 it reformed as the Port Albert Fishermen's Association which acted to protect the rights of local fishermen and their markets.
