The State Youth Council was required to advise the Minister on all aspects of youth in society and to advise on the policy and principles which should govern the allocation of financial assistance for youth work from the State Youth Fund. The inaugural meeting was held in April 1973. It was superseded by the Youth Policy Development Council in 1984.
