Raised in Melbourne, she was educated at MacRobertson's Girls' High School and the University of Melbourne. She taught in secondary schools and worked in public radio and domestic violence services. While working at the Women's Liberation Halfway House, 1979-1981, she participated in making 'Women Break Out', a film about domestic violence. She was a founding member of the Women's Liberation Archives Group and an active member of the Constance Stone Collective, which campaigned to save the Queen Victoria Women's Hospital site for Victorian women. A founding member of the Women's Circus, Vig Geddes has performed in this and the Performing Older Women's Circus.
