Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsClubs, social and culturalScientistsHistoryThe Sciences Club was established in 1967 to ‘promote and foster the better communication and interchange of ideas between scientists and technologists’ as well as to ‘establish and conduct facilities for meeting and for recreation of members and their visitors’. Situated on the first floor of Clunies Ross House in Parkville (opened 1968), the Club was conveniently located near The University of Melbourne and other research institutions which provided the majority of its members. The Sciences Club merged with the Royal Society of Victoria in 1991.
