Freezing works, then cattle stations, were acquired in many locations, and operations in poultry, butter and retailing were added later. The company became one of Australia's major meat exporters. It acquired or built works at Portland (1905), Brooklyn (1905), Moreton (1909), Burdekin (1928), Bowen (1933), Albany (1948), and Yahl, near Mt Gambier (1948), By the 1980s trade had declined and many works closed. The Brooklyn works were disposed of in 1986, and in 1988 the company announced the closure of its Australian operation, and its sale to Teys Brothers. Parts of the business were soon acquired by Elders IXL Ltd. and Australian Meat Holdings Pty. Ltd.
