She attended Methodist Ladies College. She attended the University of Sydney, completing a Bechelor of Arts with honours in psychology and history in 1961 and a Masters of Arts in psychology in 1963. After graduating, she studied in London until offered a job as lecturer at the University of Sydney in 1968. She remained with the Psychology Department until 1999, and thereafter was an honourary senior lecturer until her death in 2006. She was an active member of the Australian Psychological Society and supported appreciation of the history of Australian psychology. In later years, she conducted research towards a biographical register of Australian psychologists.
