From the early 1860's until Hardy's death in 1871, the firm operated from Melbourne's Western Market. Hardy's widow, Mary-Anne nee Tankard daughter of Mathew Tankard, and daughters lived together until the 1930's. His son was a drover in Central Queensland in the 1880's, later working as a miner on the Western Australian Murchison goldfields, where he died of typhoid.
