Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsPolitical partiesHistoryThe Party was formed out of the liquidation of the Nationalist Party and the move by J.A Lyons out of the Labor Party which was split on the question of how to manage the depressed Australian economy. The United Australia Party in coalition with the Country Party and led by Lyons defeated the Scullin Labor Government at the polls on 19 December 1931. It remained in power until after the Labor victory of 1943. In 1944 it was wound up to make way for the Liberal Party, led by R.G. Menzies.
