UA431 The Central Budgets Committee was established in 1970 as a committee of the University of Melbourne Council. Its terms of reference provide for co-option of members on the following basis: one member to be co-opted in consultation with post-graduate and under-graduate members of Council; two members to be co-opted in consultation with academically elected members of Council; a maximum of four other members to be co-opted by the Council. The Committee was established for the purposes of deliberation on matters seminal to the central budget including models for budgetry systems, allocations of funds to departments and faculties, special non-recurrent grants and project funding. The Committee interacts with, and makes recommendations to, the Finance Committee.
