He was a member of the Communist Party of Australia and Secretary of the Victorian State Branch for many years, leaving in the early 1980s. His interests spanned many countries from Vietnam to Chile, and many social movements including socialism, communism and feminism. He died suddenly, aged 42, on 2 November 1992.
