He was subsequently president of the Australian Mining Industry Council and a member of the Reserve Bank Board, Director of Consolidated Zinc Pty Ltd from 1958 and Managing Director Comalco Industries since 1961. A member of the University of Melbourne Council appointed by the Governor-in-Council from June 1967 until his death in December 1982, He served on its Finance Committee as Vice-Chairman 1967- 1970, and Chairman 1972-1982.
