His son Ian was a technically innovative winemaker who was heavily involved in the development and marketing of wine casks. He achieved distinction as a winemaker, restaurateur, and wine educator. His sons, Stephen and Andrew, and daughter Jenny were responsible for the cabmac process and the fermenter bag.
