Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsUniversity DepartmentHistoryThe Dept. of Geography was established on 1 February 1959 when Dr. John Andrews, a graduate of Sydney and Cambridge and Senior Lecturer on Geography at the University of Sydney, was appointed new Chair of Geography. He was joined by Arthur Wilcock, transferred from the Department of Geology, and soon by T.M. Perry, E.C.F. Bird and J.R.V. Prescott. By 1971 the Dept. had established a "strong interest" in coastal geomorphology, conservation, political geography, historical geography and urban geography. Professor Andrews retired in December 1974 and died in 1984.Search records of this agent
