Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsUniversity committeeHistoryAlthough the Grainger Museum commenced operations in the mid 1930s the idea for a Board of Management came much later. Memberships varied in accordance with changes to the administrative relationships of the Museum, but usually involved representation from the Faculty of Music. For the relevant period in the 1970s the University Archivist was on the Board. The inaugural meeting of the Grainger Museum Board was conducted on 11th December 1967 and commenced with a discussion of the rules by which Board meetings were to be conducted. Subsequent meetings discussed: finance; staffing; staff activities; collection usage; administration of copyright; special research access; curator's reports; the Grainger Estate; and relations with Stewart Manville and the Grainger Library Society. At some stage the Board was succeeded by the Grainger Museum Advisory Council (GMAC).
