Agent TypeOrganisationHistoryThe Mildura Branch of the University of Melbourne existed for three years from 1947 to 1949. The Branch was opened to deal with an influx of students in the sciences, consisting largely of ex-servicemen. On 22 July 1946 the University Council decided to set up a resident branch at Mildura in 1947, offering first-year classes in Medicine, Dentist and Engineering. The Branch was officially opened on 9 April 1947. The University Council decided to close it at the end of 1949 because of the fall in student enrolments, and the need for money to expand facilities in Melbourne. The Victorian Premier announced the decision to close the Branch on 9 August 1949.
