The appeal was inaugurated in April 1962, although the Council had established the St Hilda's College Building Fund Management Committee in 1961. The Committee worked to: coordinate the appeal policy which included press liaison; the drafting and distribution of appeal letters to schools, churches, media and industry groups; devising fundraising activities including the "Festival of Song"; inauguration of the appeal; monitoring of funds; the formation of the "Friends of St Hilda's" task force and the coordination of a Women's Committee devoted to the fundraising cause.Search records of this agent
