Victorian Centre For The Conservation Of Cultural Materials Inc
Description
Agent TypeOrganisationHistoryThe Victorian Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Material was established in 1978 under the auspices of the Hamer Government and operated as an agency of the Ministry of the Arts, but not as a statutory authority. The relationship with the Ministry of the Arts continued for many years because the Centre was dependant upon an annual grant for its operational expenses. On 23 November 1989, the VCCCM was registered with the Corporate Affairs Office as an incorporated association and acted independently of the Ministry of the Arts. The primary purpose of the Centre has been to educate and train workers in community institutions such as museums and historical societies in material conservation. It also carried out conservation work for community institutions and had a private sector client base as well. The VCCCM was wound up in 2004.
