The idea followed discussion for the need for such a journal in 1984 at the Lesbian Studies and Research Group, and at Lesbian Studies Weekends in 1989 and 1990. The production of the first issue was supported by the Lesbian Studies and Research Group and the Lesbian Network. Subsequent issues were developed by collectives in Brisbane and in Melbourne.
