one of four sons who became veterinary surgeons. He lectured at both the Melbourne Veterinary
College and the University Veterinary School between 1897 and 1910. He served in a veterinary
capacity in the Boer War and again in World War I, during which he was promoted to Colonel.
He became Chief Veterinary Officer of the Victorian Department of Agriculture, and in the
1930s he was appointed chairman of the Milk Board. He died aged 61.
