Wallace-Crabbe, born 1900 and educated at Melbourne Grammar School, Melbourne Teachers College and studied aircraft design at Reading. Author and journalist, he contributed to the Bulletin, Smith's Weekly and the Sunrasia Daily and also wrote several film scripts. He worked as reporter and sub-editor on the Melbourne Herald and from 1948-61 was Public Relations Officer for General Motors Holden Ltd. He enlisted in WWI and served in the R.A.F. during WWII, receiving an O.B.E. (Mil.) in 1944. He was a co-founder of the Victorian Light Car Club, and served as the Herald's motoring editor (1926-31).
