Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsProfessional organisationsHistoryThe first meeting of the Board of Management of the Lady Northcote Permanent Orchestra Trust Fund was held on 12 May 1908 with Sir James Barrett presiding. The Board consisted of 22 members, many prominent in politics, academia and music. Its aim was to support the maintenance of a permanent orchestra in Melbourne under the direction of G.W.L. Hall, and for otherwise promoting the study, practice, knowledge and appreciation of music in Melbourne and elsewhere. The Fund existed until in June 1995 it changed its name to the Lady Northcote Trust Fund, and subsequently voted to vest the funds of the Trust within the University of Melbourne to be administered by the University.
