Langham was a long-standing member of the Young Men's Christian Association in Melbourne, a non-sectarian and non-political social group aimed to develop "the all-round man". Langham was sometime Vice-President and Honorary General Secretary of the Melbourne YMCA from 1904 until his retirement in 1906. He was subsequently made a Life Honorary Member. The Rambling Club was one of the Y.M.C.A.'s earliest special interest groups.
