In 1974 WAR opened the Collingwood Rape Crisis Centre. The Centre operated a help-line, information, referral and support service to rape victims. It also disseminated information about rape to schools and community groups and organised Reclaim the Night rallies from 1979. In 1977 WAR wrote and published 'War on Rape', a resource book for women. The Centre disbanded in 1988 following the establishment of government-funded Centres Against Sexual Assault.
