Finding the practices of the male and somewhat "aristocratic" printing unions downright repugnant to their cause, the women set about fighting for increased wages and better conditions in their area. Ironically however, the union executives consisted largely of men. In the 1920s the union became the womens section of the Printing Industry Employees Union of Australia.
