The closed in 1880 but was revived in 1883 by Wood's sons James, Charles and John after John Wood senior died. In 1887 the brothers restructured the business as Wood and Sons Yorkshire Brewery Company Limited. The business collapsed in and the assets were sold. The building was ultimately acquired by Carlton & United Breweries.
