Most originate from the Department of MinesArchival HistoryProfessor Bain whilst cleaning out the estate of a Boston mining man (active around 1880), acquired a number of maps of Victoria which document in detail the old gold deposits in Ballarat and Bendigo. Subsequently Professor Bain transferred this collection of maps to Haddon King who contacted Professor Blainey who handed them to Frank Strahan at Archives.
