Description
IdentifierUMA-ACE-20150011Extent33 unitsLinear Meterage5.51Scope and ContentRecords in the Derham family collection include a diverse range of materials of different provenance, and date from 1864-2001. The majority of the materials were created by Rosemary Derham and David Derham in the course of their professional and personal lives. Records created by Rosemary Derham relate to the following areas: university and music education, Greta Hort Scholarship, University College Friends, writing of a biography of her father Sir General Brudenell White ‘The Silent Ruse’ , creative writing and recollections, household maintenance, and records relating to the death of her husband David Derham. Records relating to David Derham include: university education and qualification as a lawyer, typescripts of speeches and articles, poetry typescripts and manuscripts, work as an Air Liaison Officer in Papua New Guinea and work as Vice-Chancellor of University of Melbourne.ArrangementDue to multiple provenance and creators, this has been treated as a family collection. Obvious divisions such as bundles or those indicated by dividers were respected, and the order in which the materials were received has been maintained. In cases where the records were loose in the box, file groupings were created and titles assigned based on the content of the records. Original titles were used when present, and were elaborated if necessary to reflect the content of the file. Annotations on original folders were photocopied onto archival quality paper and placed in the file.Collection CategoryUniversity, individualsAccess StatusOpen for public accessRequest Access to RecordsRequest records from this accessionSearch within this Accession
