IdentifierUMA-ACE-20150043Extent19 units, 1 oversized itemLinear Meterage3.47Scope and ContentThe collection contains research material compiled in the writing of “Santamaria: the politics of fear” (published 2000), including Ormonde’s own notes, as well as documents of other key figures involved in Santamaria's’ Movement, and other religious and social organisations at the time. There is a significant amount of correspondence throughout the collection, both to and from Ormonde, and whilst most of it is unsorted, Frank Keating’s (editor of Catholic Worker) correspondence has been identified.
Notable inclusions in the collection is material relating to Jim Cairns, particularly transcripts to interviews held in 2015.0044, and election material from Yarra in 1955, correspondence regarding Santamaria’s nomination for an Order of Australia, as well as personal accounts of the influence of Santamaria’s Movement at the University of Melbourne and the 1955 split of the Labor Party. A large run of Santamaria’s publication "AD 2000: a journal of religious opinion” compliments the holdings of the Catholic Worker at UMA. A portfolio of illustrations by Fritz Eichenberg published in the Catholic Worker from 1949-1982 is an artistic inclusion in the collection and there is a small assortment of unidentified art works relating to PAX. There is a small amount of material relating to PAX in Australia, including documents from the 1967 PAX convention “Communism from Anathema to Dialogue”.
