After evening study she obtained the Nursery School Diploma in 1939. She taught at the Lady Forster Kindergarten and Lady Gowrie Child Centre before becoming director of the Fishermen' s Bend Kindergarten. In 1944 she was awarded a scholarship to study in the U.S.A., on her return becoming a staff member at the Kinder Training College, then Vice-Principal and in 1952 Principal. She retired from that post in March 1977. This photograph album is labelled: "Heather Lyon. My Kindergarten Career 1935-1977 for the College/Dept Archives Melb. Uni". Photographs show student groups at the Kindergarten Training College, children at class activities at "Rosbercon", the Lady Gowrie Centre and the Fishermen' Bend (Ada a'Beckett) Kindergarten, Heather Lyon in various groups and places. Included are newspaper articles and other printed items about the I.E.C.D.
