Mowsey Inagaki was appointed Instructor in Japanese at the University of Melbourne in 1919. In 1939 he travelled to Japan as a guest of the Society for International Cultural Relations. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour and the declaration of war, Inagaki was interned at Tatura.
