The Companies Act, 1910 required liquidators to deposit records of liquidated companies with the Registrar General. Records were to be retained for five years after liquidation then destroyed, but the destruction of these records was overlooked. They were transferred by the Public Record Office Victoria to UMA as a registered place of deposit under the Public Records Act, 1973.
