The series was established to control the many objects from the University donated to the Archives with scarce details of their provenance. More well documented objects of the University are kept within their individual collections rather than added to this series.
Portable fabric chalkboard in black wooden box, used for teaching.
Wax seal containing elements of the University seal adopted on the Grant of Arms in 1863. This seal could have been an early suggestion for the official seal examples of which were being considered in 1853. Contains the University's moto 'Postera Crescam Laude' on the lower rim, and VIC ACAD MELB SIG around the upper rim. The centre of the seal is occupied by the figure of Winged Victory surrounded by stars streaming from the sky, but without the representaion of the four stars of eight points of the Southern Cross typical of later seals. Red wax in black painted metal container with gold trim and blue ribbon.
Two sets of wall charts of plants and animals and their classifications used in teaching. Both sets are the 'Palaontologische Wandtafeln' by K.A. Zittel, series I and II, published by E. Schweizerbart'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung, Stuttgart, a scientific publisher operating since 1864. Approximately 87 charts. Paper on linen.
