Apparently funded by the Student Union Council, he was formally granted the title "Cosmologer"and was given premises at the University to establish a Department of Levity which included the "Wizard's Cosmological Research and Development Centre." He also called himself the Wizard of the World University Service in Australia and leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Non-Party Opposition. An eccentric and self-styled "shaman", Channell devoted his energies to formulating 'alternative' scientific and social theories of the universe, debunking fashionable political and ideological beliefs and to generally making himself well known to staff and students about the Parkville campus.
This series comprises open letters written by the "Wizard" to the Vice-Chancellor, the Primate of AustraliaArchbishop of Melbourne, The British Brotherhood, all Australian scientists, Melbourne University Press and the Director of the Natonal Gallery of Victoria. Self-published and printed works of Ian B.
