IdentifierUMA-SRE-20000063Extent3 volumesScope and ContentAt a conference of representatives of the Schools Board and the Professorial Board in June 1950, discussions took place regarding changes to the Matriculation Examination. In August of that year a meeting of the Matriculation Advisory Committee was held - this became known as the Joint Advisory Committee on Matriculation and was comprised of representatives of both the Professorial Board and the Schools Board. This series documents the activities of the Committee from 1950-1961. The committee met regularly, its brief being to investigate the Matriculation Regulation, to propose changes and make recommendations where necessary to the Professorial Board regarding subjects, prerequisites and conduct of the Matriculation Examination. In 1951, a report of the Committee's recommendations was discussed and drafted for presentation to the Professorial Board. At a meeting of the Committee on the 9th of October 1951, the Chairman thanked the members for their work and reminded them that this was a permanent committee which could meet again. The first two volumes in this series record the minutes and reports of the meetings of the Committee from 1950 to 1951. Included are recommended changes to the Examination and changes to specific subjects. The committee appears to have been resurrected in 1955 to consider further issues relating to the Matriculation Examination. In 1959 this was reappointed the Joint Matriculation Committee and consisted of members of the Schools Board and the Professorial Board. There appears to be no further reference to this committee after 1961. The third volume in the series records the re-establishment and minutes of the Committee including reference to the establishment of an Executive Committee.
