Its duties were to make recommendations with regard to research grant allocations and distribution of funds among the social sciences. It appears that it was specifically established to recommend the expenditure of 1500 pounds allocated to the University out of an unexpended surplus which had to be to be disposed of by June 1945. The committee consisted of the heads of the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Economics, Economic History, History, Law, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and the Chairman of the Board of Social Studies. The first meeting was held on the 24th of April 1945 and there appears to be no further reference after the 10th of December 1945.
