IdentifierUMA-SRE-20000066ExtentFive volumesScope and ContentThe Special Matriculation Committee was first appointed by the Professorial Board to deal with applications for admission to matriculation in special circumstances in June of 1937. Prior to this, all matters relating to special matriculation were dealt with directly by the Board. The committee would be comprised of the Vice-Chancellor, the Chairman of the Professorial Board and the Deans of the then-faculties. The Committee adopted the following general principles:To grant concessions in cases where ill-health or wrong advice received from the University Office had prevented the securing of matriculation qualifications in the ordinary way or where the candidate failed to achieve a pass at the higher standard of the Intermediate Examination and had attempted to qualify for matriculation. There is no further reference to this committee after 1968. The reason for this is unclear.
