Each certificate had a number and they were issued in large batches which are dated. There are references to obsolete certificates which are placed in a basement. Further in the book there is a tally of degree certificates in stock, the number issued with the date and the number ordered from the printer. There are also references to certificates for degrees without examination, posthumous degree certificates and honoris causa certificates. In addition, there are some graduation programmes as well as correspondence about the award of honorary degrees to Sir John Shepherd, the Right Hon. Clarence Howe and Professor Richard tawney.
