IdentifierUMA-SRE-20000135Extentnot specifiedScope and ContentThe Sub-committee on Promotions to Grades Below Reader was a sub-committee of the Staff and Establishments Committee and like many other of its sub-committees, was appointed, met and was dissolved on a casual basis. The Staff and Establishments Committee (later Committee on Staff) was concerned with matters of promotion; staff appointments; reclassification of positions; proposals for candidates for senior positions and salaries. The Sub-committee on Promotions to Grades Below Reader (and grades other than reader) met to consider appointments to Senior Lectureships, Lectureships and Assistant Lectureships. It appears that after April 1960, the Sub-committee on Promotions to Grades Below (and other than) Readers took over the consideration of appointments to all grades of Lectureships-a function previously handled by the Sub-committee on Promotions to Senior Lectureships and Lectureships. It also appears that after October 1961 this function was taken over by the Sub-committee on Promotions/Promotions Sub-committee.
