The Staff and Establishments Committee (later Committee on Staff) was concerned with matters of promotion; staff appointments; reclassification of positions; proposals for candidates for senior positions and salaries. The Sub-committee on Promotions to Senior Lectureships and Lectureships met to consider appointments to Senior Lectureships, Lectureships and Assistant Lectureships. It appears that after April 1960, the Sub-committee on Promotions to Grades Below (and other than) Readers took over the consideration of appointments to all grades of Lectureships.
