The Appeal target amount was 250,000 pounds (final amount raised not known). The Appeal began in February 1960, closed officially in May 1960, but donations continued until 1965. The series of Appeal printed contribution cards contain name, address, tax deductible sum given or promised over a four year period and the payment dates and banking details. Attached to the cards are also the following types of documents: - donor correspondence; - copies of formatted reminders; - unsent addressed envelopes; - paper with the VRSA letterhead; - list of donor sponsors (including individuals, veterinarians, companies, associations, societies and clubs).
