IdentifierUMA-SRE-20030105Extent1 volumeScope and ContentThe Victorian Advisory Committee on Agricultural Education was established under the Agricultural Colleges Act, 1944. Its function was deliberating and reporting to the Agriculture Minister upon issues such as: admission standards for courses, evaluation of proposals for explosives demonstrations, Deputations from colleges, committee membership, practical farm work placements, academic term dates, approval of text books, recommendations for infrastructural investment in colleges, new course and syllabus proposals and reports from college principals. The Committee wound up at the end of 1975, and was succeeded by an advisory council which reported directly to the Minister. The minutes of the Committee from 1945 - 1960 are physically part of UM1013.When the previous Committee (the Council of Agricultural Education) was abolished in 1944, the minutes for the Victorian Advisory Committee onAgricultural Education were written into the last volume of Council of Agricultural Education minutes until that volume was full. The minutes commence with the first 1960 meeting, and continue through to the final meeting of the committee on 16th December 1975.
